Rótulo: The steep terraces of the Douro valley in the north of Portugal are famous for the production of fortified wine. In recent years the region has shown that its unique combination of grape varieties, dry climate and schistous soil also produce outstanding table wine. Quinta do Crasto Reserva 1995 is made from mixed varietal plantings of 60 year old vines. It is an intense and complex wine, resulting from the varietal mix, old, low yielding vines, and 12 month ageing in french oak pipes. It shows rich, ripe concentrated fruit on the palate, which has great depth, length, and a soft tannic structure. Quinta do Crasto Reserva 1995 was bottled unfiltered in November 1996, and will repay cellaring. David Baverstock winemaker.
