Rótulo: Terrazas de los Andes grows its grapes at the ideal altitude for each variety, enabling for the maximum expression of aromas and flavours in our wines. Our vineyrd "Finca Las Compuertas" is located at 1,067 metres above sea level in the district of Vistalba, Mendoza. Its 1929 vines are descendents of Bourdeaux clones introduced by Michel Pouget in the XIX Century. The passion and commitment of our winemaking team, combined with the natural advantages of our high elevation vineyards, allow us to preserve intact the outstading characteristics of this noble variety. In this unique location, within a careffuly selected vineyard parcel, man and nature become one to produce our Afincado Malbec - a wine of outstading varietal expression. In Spanish, Afincado means "to be settled and established in a particular place". Vineyard: Shallow, sand-free, permeable soils. Considerable variation between daytime and nighttime temperatures 14ºC (57ºF). Vines irrigated by traditional canlas fed by Andes Mountain snow melt. Maceration: Delestage and manual pigeage. Ageing: 18 months in new French oak barrels. Colour: Deep, dark red with purple shades. Aroma: Highly expressive and boldly complex, the wine's evocative fruit bouquet delivers a blend of black cherries and dry plums, followed by caramel and smoky accents. Violet floral notes delineate the typical character of the Malbec variety. Palate: Impressive structure and concentration, with mature and powerful tannins. An elegant and complex wine with hints of plums, blackberries and cherries amidst ever present floral notes. While a highly enjoyable experience upon release, ageing of 15-20 years will evolve the wine more subtle, complex flavours. Served best when decanted for up to two hours.
